about

End Is The Beginning is a sprawling, psychedelic meditation on coming to terms with the unknown and unknowable. Dan Graul ruminates on what "the end" means in different spheres, finding that often the end of something is the beginning of another. This concept is illustrated in precipitation that becomes a river that becomes the sea, stars that burn out and still beam their light across the universe, trees that suffer damage from fire and find a way to thrive despite their scars and even successes or failures that become behaviors and cycles within our lives. Dan finds comfort in the idea that we're all subject to the whims of the universe and that's okay. The heavy chorus features the vocals of Will Norris and hits like karma coming home to smack you upside the head and remind you that you don't know everything you think you do. The instrumental tears off into wailing guitars that scream like murder before winding down into a placid, meditative end, like the star burning itself out furiously until only it's light remains to beam out from the center. The track features Dan's band Northern Strangers - Rebecca Graul on vocals/keys, Will Norris on vocals/bass and Jonathan Santin on Drums.

lyrics

The dark is coming to a close
The river flows –
The sun is climbing over Jupiter
It shows - us where to go
Oh Oh Oh Oh
The light shines brightly even though
it long has died –
The bark is burned and black and still
the life it thrives - inside
Oh Oh Oh Oh

And when the truth is told
There's no where left to go
And when the truth is sold
You got no place left to hide

Doesn't if make you feel right
Walking around, it's all nice
All of the stars are in line
Waiting to treat you so fine
Well I don't know
You think you know the right time
Keeping the Kings on your mind
All of the stars are in line
Waiting to treat you so fine

Well I'm not sure

Our might is only matched by mountains
War drums play –
The birds of Neptune call upon
Our thoughts betray - our way
Oh Oh Oh Oh
A life a happening of circumstance
You're free –
We love but like the Gods before
We cannot keep – the peace
Oh Oh Oh Oh

And when the truth is told
There's no where left to go
And when the truth is sold
You got no place left to hide

Doesn't if make you feel right
Walking around, it's all nice
All of the stars are in line
Waiting to treat you so fine
Well I don't know
You think you know the right time
Keeping the Kings on your mind
All of the stars are in line
Waiting to treat you so fine
Well I'm not sure
